SANTINIKETAN – SHARE YOUR TALENT ACTIVITY

CLASS 5
Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high…

Inspired by this timeless vision of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, the Santiniketan concept of “Share Your Talent” was beautifully brought to life by the students of Class 5, on 23rd March at our own Essence International School. This initiative, conducted by Vandana Shaw, teacher of English subject, created a vibrant platform for peer-to-peer learning, where students became both teachers and learners.

The young participants enthusiastically shared skills across diverse areas such as Yoga, Origami, Dance, Song, Chess, Math tricks, and EVS. The open air classroom transformed into dynamic spaces of collaboration, curiosity, and creativity- truly reflecting a Santiniketan spirit where education goes beyond textbooks.

This initiative strongly aligned with key aspects of Bloom’s Taxonomy. Students not only remembered and understood their skills but also applied them while teaching peers. They analyzed different methods of explaining concepts, evaluated their own performance, and ultimately created meaningful learning experiences for each other.

The impact was profound. It enhanced holistic development, strengthened speaking skills, and nurtured confidence among students. It also sparked genuine interest in learning and fostered a sense of responsibility and ownership. The school evolved into a hub for dialogue and resource exchange, where knowledge flowed freely among peers.

The initiative was well appreciated by the directors Mr. Vijay Menon and Dr. Mrs. Hema Menon, Quality Coordinator Mrs. Jayshri Sastri, Principal Mrs. Beena Menon, and Vice Principals Mrs. Arpana Wilson and Mrs. Shashiprabha Suryavanshi.

As Sudha Murthy appropriately quoted, ” Knowledge shared is knowledge multiplied ”, in the same way this activity not only enhanced the children’s knowledge but multiplied it too. This initiative stood as a testament to that belief- empowering young minds to grow together, fearlessly and meaningfully.
