CoE Training Programme on School Health and Wellness

Essence International School, Nagpur organized a two-day Capacity Building Programme on School Health and Wellness on 06 and 07 May 2026 for teachers. The programme was conducted in the presence of the Principal, Mrs.Beena Menon and Quality Coordinator,Mrs.Jayshri Sastri, whose guidance and encouragement added great value to the training programme.The programme aimed to create awareness about physical, emotional, mental, and social wellbeing among students and to equip educators with practical strategies for promoting a safe, healthy, and supportive school environment in alignment with the School Health and Wellness Programme (SHWP).
The Programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the spread of knowledge and positivity. This was followed by the inaugural session led by Mr. S. N. Sahu, who introduced the School Health and Wellness Programme (SHWP).





The session set the tone for the training by emphasizing the importance of health as a lifelong companion and the need to nurture and care for one’s physical and emotional wellbeing.


The first session focused on growing up healthy, where participants explored the physical and emotional changes during adolescence. The importance of guiding students with the right awareness and helping them develop a positive attitude towards these changes was highlighted.
This was followed by an insightful session on emotional wellbeing and mental health, where the importance of understanding and expressing emotions appropriately was emphasized. The session highlighted how managing stress and maintaining a balance in life are essential for growth. Through relatable examples, participants understood that while a certain level of stress supports progress, stepping out of one’s comfort zone is necessary for personal development. The idea that focused engagement in one’s work can act as a form of meditation was also discussed
Further, the participants explored interpersonal relationships, where the importance of empathy, communication, and mutual respect was emphasized. Different approaches to dealing with conflicts were discussed, guiding participants towards resolving issues through dialogue and cooperation.
The next session highlighted values and responsible citizenship, where it was emphasized that values play a crucial role in decision-making. Participants were encouraged to guide students in making responsible and ethical choices in their daily lives.



An engaging session on gender equality followed, where the importance of respect and equality among all individuals was discussed. Through real-life examples such as bullying, participants gained a deeper understanding of challenging stereotypes and promoting an inclusive environment.
The day concluded with a session on nutrition, health, and sanitation, which emphasized the importance of a balanced diet, hygiene practices, and cleanliness in maintaining overall health. The discussion also highlighted how proper nutrition and sanitation help in preventing diseases and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Overall, the sessions were highly interactive and informative, providing practical insights and strategies that can be effectively implemented in the classroom. The training proved to be enriching and contributed significantly towards understanding the holistic development of students.
