Continuing the objectives of the CoE Training Programme on School Health and Wellness, the second day began with a thoughtful recap session conducted by Mr. S. N. Sahu. The day comprised engaging and insightful sessions focused on promoting students’ physical, emotional, mental, and social wellbeing. The sessions provided practical strategies and meaningful discussions to help educators create a safe, healthy, and supportive learning environment for students. Participants were asked to close their eyes and reflect upon the learnings from the previous day, creating a calm and focused environment similar to meditation. The activity emphasized mindful learning and active reflection.

An engaging group activity followed, where participants were asked to carry out instructions using simple finger movements and coordinated actions. Through this activity, the importance of giving clear, conscious, and classroom-appropriate instructions to students was highlighted.

The sessions further focused on the prevention and management of substance misuse. Participants were sensitized about addiction, peer pressure, and the importance of identifying reliable support systems for prevention and treatment. The discussion emphasized the role of parents, teachers, counsellors, and trusted adults as a “safety net” for children and adolescents.

An insightful session on promoting a healthy lifestyle highlighted the importance of healthy choices, physical fitness, balanced nutrition, yoga, and meditation in maintaining overall wellbeing. The resource person emphasized that a healthy educator is more confident, energetic, and effective in the classroom. Through various examples and case studies, participants understood how lifestyle habits directly affect physical and mental health. Discussions were also held on obesity, unhealthy food habits, physical inactivity, and the importance of encouraging healthy practices among students from an early age.

The programme also focused on safety, security, violence, and injury prevention. Participants were made aware of different forms of abuse and violence that children may face within schools and society. Sessions highlighted the importance of identifying warning signs such as social withdrawal, anxiety, aggression, behavioural changes, and emotional distress. The legal rights of children and the responsibility of teachers in creating safe and supportive environments were also discussed.
Special emphasis was laid on the “No, Go, Tell” approach, encouraging children to speak up and seek help in unsafe situations. Participants were guided on how to respond sensitively and responsibly if a child discloses abuse or violence.
An informative session on reproductive health and HIV prevention addressed awareness regarding personal hygiene, urinary tract infections, reproductive health, and the difference between HIV and AIDS. Through stories, case studies, and discussions, participants gained clarity on addressing such sensitive topics with care and awareness.

The concluding session focused on the safe use of the internet, gadgets, and media. Participants were divided into groups and assigned topics such as online safety, real and virtual life, fake versus real information, and responsible media usage. Each group presented thoughtful ideas and practical suggestions, making the session highly interactive and engaging.

The programme concluded with words of gratitude extended to the resource persons, School Management, Principal Ma’am, Quality Coordinator, and all the participants for their valuable support and active participation throughout the training programme.
