“Together for a Greener Tomorrow”
Essence International School celebrated Environment Week from 13th July to 18th July 2026 with the objective of promoting environmental awareness, sustainable living, and responsible citizenship among students. The week-long celebration was planned under the guidance of the school leadership and coordinated by the teaching staff as part of the school’s commitment to nurturing environmentally conscious and responsible citizens.
Students from Classes I to IX enthusiastically participated in a variety of age-appropriate activities designed to develop creativity, teamwork, innovation, and environmental stewardship through experiential learning.
Day 1
Class I – Palm Print Forest
Students created a colourful class forest by adding green palm prints as leaves on a large tree trunk. The activity introduced young learners to the importance of trees while encouraging creativity, teamwork, and appreciation for nature.
Class II – My Green Promise Tree
Students wrote or drew one eco-friendly promise on leaf-shaped cut-outs and pasted them on a classroom tree. Their promises included saving water, planting trees, using dustbins, avoiding littering, and using both sides of paper. The activity inspired students to take simple yet meaningful steps towards protecting the environment.
Day 2
Class III – Impact of War on the Environment
Students expressed through drawings how war affects forests, wildlife, air, water, and human life. The activity helped them understand the importance of peace, environmental conservation, and protecting natural resources for future generations.
Class IV – Letter to the Earth
Students wrote heartfelt letters to Mother Earth expressing gratitude, concern for environmental issues, and their commitment to protecting nature. The activity enhanced creative writing skills while strengthening students’ emotional connection with the environment.
Day 3
Class V – Seed Rakhi
Students prepared eco-friendly Seed Rakhis using biodegradable materials and seeds. They learned how simple festive practices can also contribute to environmental conservation by promoting sustainable and plant able alternatives.
Class VI – Green City Model – Drawing Activity
Students designed eco-friendly cities featuring solar energy, rainwater harvesting, green spaces, waste segregation, and clean transportation. The activity encouraged innovative thinking and highlighted the importance of sustainable urban development.
Class VII – Best Out of Waste – No-Sew Cloth Handbag
Students transformed old T-shirts and cloth into reusable handbags without stitching. The activity reinforced the principles of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, encouraging students to reduce plastic use through practical alternatives.
Day 4
Class VIII – Eco Newspaper: “Good News for the Earth”
Students designed creative newspapers highlighting positive environmental news, eco-friendly tips, slogans, a..nd illustrations. The activity enhanced creativity, communication skills, and environmental awareness.
Day 5
Class IX – Tree Plantation and Green Campus Initiative
Students enthusiastically participated in a Tree Plantation and Green Campus Initiative by planting saplings at Parvati Park Ground, Mahajanwadi, Wanadongri, Hingna, and within the school campus. They pledged to nurture the saplings and contribute towards building a greener and healthier environment.
Special Assembly
The celebrations concluded with a Special Assembly, where students showcased the activities conducted throughout the week through presentations and photographs. They shared inspiring messages on environmental conservation and encouraged everyone to adopt eco-friendly practices in their daily lives. The assembly served as a meaningful conclusion to Environment Week and reinforced the importance of collective action for a sustainable future.
Overall Outcome
Environment Week provided students with valuable opportunities to learn through participation, creativity, and experiential activities. The various class-wise activities
fostered environmental awareness, teamwork, innovation, communication skills, and a strong sense of responsibility towards protecting nature.
The successful celebration of Environment Week was made possible through the constant support and guidance of our Respected Directors, Mr. Vijay Menon and Dr. Mrs. Hema Menon; Principal, Mrs. Beena Menon; Quality Coordinator, Mrs. Jayshree Sastri; Vice Principals, Coordinators, and dedicated teachers. Their encouragement, combined with the enthusiastic participation of the students, made the week a meaningful and memorable learning experience, inspiring everyone to contribute towards a greener and more sustainable future.
