Students from classes 8 to 11 participated with great enthusiasm, energetically taking their first steps towards enhancing their oratory skills.

Training Modules Covered

Module 1

The Speaker: Introduced students to the meaning of effective public speaking through clear message delivery, confident presentation, and audience connection.

Module 2

Preparation for the Speech: Focused on the essential parts of a speech – opening, introduction, body, and closing – along with the three versions every speaker prepares (the speech they want to give, the one they prepare, and the one they ultimately deliver).

Module 3

Speaking Etiquette: Covered the etiquette of effective communication, including respecting time, engaging the audience, avoiding filler words, using clear language, staying on topic, preparing and rehearsing, practising good body language, handling Q&A gracefully, and thanking the audience. Students were also introduced to the “Speaker’s 10 Commandments” – practical do’s and don’ts such as not opening with apologies, avoiding exaggeration, and not overstaying one’s welcome at the podium – concluding with the reminder that clear, confident speech has the power to influence and inspire.

The change in the confidence level and oratory skill of all the participants was clearly visible in their final presentations on the topic “The World I Want to Leave Behind.” Each student expressed their thoughts and vision for the future with remarkable clarity and conviction, reflecting the impact of the workshop.

The presentations were judged by School Principal Mrs. Beena Menon and Hindi Department HOD Mrs. Tanveer Khan, along with Resource Person JC Aishwarya Vakil. After careful deliberation, Miss Ojassi Adya came out with flying colours as the winner, being conferred the title of Young Orator of Essence International School.

Certificates of participation were distributed among all the students who took part in the workshop, recognising their effort and enthusiasm throughout the sessions.

Mrs. Vandana Shaw on behalf of the management and staff of Essence International School extended a warm welcome and vote of thanks to the Resource Persons from JCI Orange City for their valuable guidance.
